PUNE COLLAB

The Pune Collab team found frequent interactions between various NGOs on a Whatsapp group hosting over 80 NGOs based in the city of Pune, Maharasthra. Interestingly, most interactions related to requests for and offers of various resources.

The following case study was therefore conducted to gauge how a platform such as a Whatsapp group can allow for collaborations and the exchange of resources among NGOs, facilitating the work they do.

The team extracted the chat history from the group for a period of one year  between March 2017 and April 2018. The data was then manually coded to capture the types of resources being requested and offered, the response rate of NGOs to various posts, and success rates of exchanges.
