CONTACT
OUR STORY

In 2017 we connected two NGOs to each other. One provides shelters to orphaned girls, while the other provided career counselling. The latter organised a career counselling session for 12th grade girls from the shelter home.

Just by coming in contact with each other the first NGO was able to bring a new expert service to their beneficiaries, while the other was able to increase their reach.

This made us ponder over two questions

>  Can we do more if we worked together?

>  What stops us from working together now?

Starting in the city of Pune we tried to answer these questions. We began by trying to find a database of NGOs working in the city, and to find any evidence of frequent collaborations between them.

We found no such database exists, so we have embarked on a journey to create it ourselves.

OUR VISION

Despite the large number of organisations working towards development in our country, there is much left to be desired in way of improving the quality of life for certain sections of our society. Many organisations take on more than they can manage, trying to diversify their services to give their beneficiaries everything they can think of. The result is services designed with a lack of expertise, programs implemented without enough beneficiaries, and much duplication of efforts across the sector.

At Pune Collab we ask the question - How can we collectively do better? Once possible answer- easy and efficient collaborations among various actors in the development sector.

TECHNOLOGY

The city of Pune houses over 1000 registered and unregistered NGOs and voluntary organisations working towards enhancing development in the city. If we include other initiatives by citizens, companies, or foundations this number is much higher. However, few are trying to map or track the work of these actors in the city.

The Pune Collab platform, that houses information about organisations and their initiatives, can help us do exactly this.

With the Pune Collab platform actors in the sector can reach out to each other to learn new skills, exchange knowledge and physical resources too. A platform like ours has the power to increase our collective impact in the development sector while making out lives easier.

This platform can facilitate collaborations not just among voluntary organisations, but also potential volunteers, financiers, academicians, and government bodies that can hope lend their support to various development initiatives.
