Landscape mapping of NGOs and collaborations in Pune city
Pune Collab aims to build a platform that allows NGOs to find resources they seek easily and efficiently.

The Pune Collab team started by collating data about over 500 NGOs based in the city of Pune from sources available online. This list of NGOs was created from various sources, but primarily Niti Aayog's NGO Darpan, and from our personal contacts in Pune. Information was then collected through searches of each NGOs website, where available.

We then sought to contact each NGO personally to find out key information that might help us facilitate collaborations or exchanges of resources between them. Since several did not have functioning telephone numbers or email IDs listed online, and a few refused to participate once we connected with them, we were able to collect data from around 200 NGOs through surveys. These NGOs were surveyed telephonically or through online surveys, in June 2018.
The following study is a landscape mapping of the nature of work being conducted by NGOs- sectors they address, beneficiaries they target- and the nature of collaborations being undertaken currently, and those being sought.

Our preliminary findings suggest that while NGOs are seeking resources, currently only 60% of those who responded are actively engaged in some form of partnership to access such resources.
​
We further see a concentration of efforts in certain sectors, such as those in the chart above.
A detailed analysis of our findings from this exercise is underway.

We find a considerable number of NGOs seeking training or mentoring in activities from other NGOs, as well as looking for other NGOs or organisations to provide specialized services.
​
Further NGOs are more than willing to partner with other NGOs whether in the same or in different sectors. These collaborations can be facilitated through our platform.
